What if I want a different index?

What if I want a different index?
MateSel is set up to use the standard Sheep Genetics indexes. Custom indexes can also be added into MateSel, keep an eye out for instructions on how to do that.
You may be interested in traits that are outside of the index. For example if you are a Merino breeder interested in breeding for reduced wrinkle but none of the current indexes include wrinkle. To handle this you can add individual traits to MateSel and place emphasis on them. This means MateSel will work to reduce wrinkle and increase the index at the same time. Another common example is adding birthweight as a trait when using Terminal indexes.
More information about setting up trait management later.
