Livestock Transaction and Movements

Overview

This module is part of the Livestock Production Assurance (LPA) learning package and focuses on how to accurately record livestock movements, sales, and purchases.

You’ll explore how to consign livestock and complete National Vendor Declarations (NVDs), manage withholding periods and other risks, and how to identify livestock. You will also learn how to check incoming NVDs and update the NLIS database correctly when receiving livestock.

This module is for producers, feed lotters, livestock agents, saleyards and transporters.

Learning outcomes

On completing this module, you will be able to:

accurately record livestock purchases, sales and movements
understand the purpose of LPA NVDs and demonstrate how to accurately complete them
track animals under WHP, ESI, or with contamination risks
update the NLIS database accurately and explain why it matters
know how to correctly identify livestock
maintain traceability compliance when buying or selling livestock.
