Visual indicators of soil condition
Overview
The objective of this training package is to provide you, the participant with the skills to identify possible soil constraints within Southern Australian pasture systems. At the end of this training package a questionaire will be presented to you to test your understanding by viewing a series of images and identifying what possible soil constraints exists and the possible measures that could be taken to confirm them.
Each item in the training package should take no more than 5 minutes to complete.
Learning objectives
At completion of this module, producers will be able to:
- Recognise common visual indicators of soil condition that are observable across a paddock, within the pasture sward, on the soil surface and on clover/legume roots.
- Specify what the visual signs may indicate about soil condition and time of the year they are most likely to be observable.Â
- Able to identify what tests could be done to confirm the possible reason for the soil condition.
