ConclusionConclusion1 quiz
Estimated Breeding Values (EBVs) describe an individual’s genetic merit for a trait independent of the environment in which the animal was raised.
Genetic merit is defined as the heritable attributes that the animal can pass on to its progeny.
Key message
BREEDPLAN EBVs represent the heritable G component of the Phenotype = Genotype + Environment equation that we learnt about in Module 1.
