Routine checks in the BREEDPLAN analysis
Meat & Livestock Australia March 22, 2024
There are a number of routine checks that are undertaken as part of the calculation of BREEDPLAN EBVs
These include the following data checks:
- Is the performance information for each trait within the expected range (e.g. weight not too high for age stage)?
- Is the performance information for an animal significantly different to that of other animals in its contemporary group (e.g. an outlier)?
- Are the animal ages (including parents) realistic?
- Do the traits submitted align with the animals sex (e.g. male traits not submitted for female)?
- Is the quality of the genotypes (DNA information) received adequate?
Regular validation of BREEDPLAN EBVs is also undertaken.
